Around a year ago I bought an Abandoned EX-RedBull MINI from an auto auction. It was ABUSED.... 170k hard miles, been painted at least 3 times, wore out front end but still ran and drove. Figured when I found the right donor car for my idea it would be time to build it. Well, that time is NOW!
The Red Bull Mini was slow and troublesome with the CVT Transmission they used. So I found a 2006 LCI Dinan R53 6 speed manual. Yes, a DINAN. the Dinan Red BULL MIni will be a Supercharged 6 speed manual. Come back and see the progress here!
This is end of day one video, stripped motor/trans out of it. Removed the bed cover/trim and fabric to find one heck of a mess. The conversion company who did these original 500 were lets just say lazy. Removed the base hood and test fit a S hood.
Day 2
More work today in The Dinan-RedBull Mini Truck….
These were put together AWFUL. Man, the more I take apart the more I see just the hackiness(is that a word) lol. Fiberglass, sheet metal screws, silicone and rivets obviously was their favorite methods of adhesion.
Day 2- more teardown-Already started welding panels in the bed and now I have an issue w the deck lid. Looks like a convertible trunk lid will not fit and the holes are offset on the Bull lid used VS a convertible lid.
Have to fab some hinges/brackets for that.
Did the stud conversion kit today. Using my super light 3 piece race wheels on it.
Lots of work to do but it’s getting there.
